Sports Wall of Fame inductees announced in Port Hawkesbury

Two athletes and one builder in sport are being added to the Sports Wall of Fame in Port Hawkesbury.

Town Councillor Todd Barrett announced the winning nominees at the monthly public meeting.

First was baseball player and coach, Hughie MacDougall. According to Barrett, he is invaluable to the community as he passes on his skills to the next generation.

MacDougall has led his teams to seven provincial championships with six for baseball and one for hockey.

Next is Marcy MacNeil, who is most known as a volleyball player in high school and on Team Nova Scotia.

She was recruited by five universities and pursued her academic and athletic career at Mount Saint Vincent University.

Third is an extraordinary basketball player and equestrian rider, Trish Little, who Barrett said he went to high school with.

Little’s posthumous recognition is in addition to the Tiger Mackie Annual Old Timer’s Tournament, which is named after her grandfather, honouring her memory with the women’s division named after her.

Youth Awards will be presented to honour Ella Barlett and Chad Richards.
