Statement from Liberal Leader Zach Churchill on UARB Decision

The Nova Scotia Utility and Review Board approved a 6.9 percent power rate increase for households in the province.

Nova Scotia Liberal Leader Zach Churchill says although the decision was made in consultation with affordability and environmental experts, he believes that Nova Scotians deserve reliable power they can afford and is concerned that this decision could jeopardize that.

Churchill says with the rising cost of living, the Houston Government should focus on providing targeted direct relief for Nova Scotians instead of interfering with the energy market in a way that could cost Nova Scotians more down the road and make the power grid less reliable.
