Suspicious fires damage two buildings on Hunters Mountain

The RCMP is investigating two suspicious fires that damaged neighbouring buildings on Hunters Mountain.

Mounties said officers, firefighters and EHS were called to the 1000 block of the Cabot Trail around 1:20 a.m. on Saturday.

Police said an unoccupied structure was already fully engulfed in flames when first responders arrived.

Firefighters then found signs of a fire in a second similar building about 100 feet away and were able to extinguish it, according to the authorities.

RCMP said the first building was destroyed and the second sustained significant damage.

Investigators have also notified the Nova Scotia Office of the Fire Marshal for assistance.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact the Victoria County District RCMP at 902‑295‑2350.

Anonymous tips can be shared through Nova Scotia Crime Stoppers at 1‑800‑222‑TIPS (8477) or online.
