Sydney man charged after convenience store robbery

A 36-year-old man has been charged with robbery after a convenience store theft.

Cape Breton Regional Police say they were called to an alarm at the Needs Convenience on George Street just after 11 p.m. on Sunday night.

The clerk reported the man threatened he had a weapon and demanded cash.

He took off with cash and cigarettes. No one was hurt.

Police say they tracked the suspect down, and despite trying to run away, he was taken into custody.

Shawn Robert Hall of Sydney was remanded to the Cape Breton Correctional Centre and also charged with several breaches of a probation order.
