The Queen has passed away. Now what?

Shortly before it was announced that the Queen had died, a double rainbow appeared over Buckingham Palace.

I’ve always been a fan of the Royal Family. I can’t point to a specific reason why but I suspect it has a lot to do with the imagined fairy tale aspect of a Royal Family.

Growing up, my Grandmother had a framed portrait of Queen Elizabeth II on the wall so I come by my fandom honestly.

The Province shared archive photos of the Queens 5 visits to Nova Scotia.

The passing of the Queen will be a moment that I will always remember “where I was when I heard” similar to Princess Diana.

So what happens now after her 70 years on the throne?

Well, her son Charles immediately became King and Camilla is now known as the Queen Consort.

Charles will be known as King Charles III. He is now head of state not only in the UK but also in 14 other Commonwealths including here in Canada.

Prince William is now first in line to the throne, then is kids. His son, Prince George is second, then Princess Charlotte followed by Prince Louis. Prince Harry is 5th in line with his 2 kids behind him.

Funeral arrangements for Queen Elizabeth will be announced soon. She passed away at her home in Scotland, Balmoral Castle and will be brought back to England.
