Triple 50s race opens season at Riverside

The 2019 season at Riverside International Speedway in James River opens with the Triple 50s as part of the Pro Stock Tour.

The event, which is a throwback format popular during the era when Riverside opened in 1969, will kick off at-track celebrations for the venue’s 50th anniversary; there will be a brief pause at the end of laps 50 and 100 when a spectator will spin a wheel to determine if the running order is inverted.

The spin at lap 50 could lead to a total inversion, while the spin at lap 100 will have a maximum of 10 cars inverted; series championship points and race results will be based on the order drivers cross the finish line at lap 150.

The Triple 50s is round three of 12 on the 2019 Pro Stock Tour schedule, and the first of three series stops of the season at Riverside.

Antigonish’s Donald Chisholm, who sits 23rd in the current points standings after the first two races, will be in the number 89 car.

The Sportsman Series heat races kick off the event at 6 p.m.
