Volunteers from the Whycocomagh Waterfront Centre conducted a presentation at Yesterday’s Council meeting for the Municipality of the County of Inverness.
The Centre has provided a great place to hold community events and activities and they took the time to highlight the events that were held in the past and their plans for the new year.
They are now planning to develop a library at their facilities. The goal of having a library is to provide a place for people in the area to check out books and provide services like photocopying, printing, scanning, and internet access for people that need it. The closest library is in Dalbrae, making it difficult for people with mobility issues and people that don’t have their own transporation to access library services.
The idea to develop a library was well received by council members, and Municipal CAO Keith MacDonald said it was a good time to bring the proposal to the table.
The Municipality is conducting a strategic study of library services in the Municipality, and they hope to gather feedback from residents before this year’s budget is ready.
