10 Years Later: Canada Relives The Tragically Hip’s Final Concert

It’s been 10 years since the very emotional last concert of the Tragically hip. It was August 20th, 2016 when Gord Downie and the band ended their last tour in their home town of Kingston. The tour was not just the last for the band but one of the last appearances of Gord Downie who would pass away from brain cancer in 2017. 11.7 million Canadians watched the live broadcast of The Tragically Hip’s final concert.

Now, 10 years later we can see that concert again. CBC will rebroadcast the entire concert on August 22nd!

There will also be mix of never before seen footage before the rebroadcast from Mike Downie (Gord’s brother)

The celebration starts a day earlier, too. On August 21, The Tragically Hip will release a new live album, Live July 22 – August 20, 2016, featuring recordings from the band’s final Man Machine Poem tour across Canada. The album includes live versions of fan favorites like Ahead By a CenturyNew Orleans Is SinkingFifty-Mission Cap, and Locked In The Trunk Of A Car.
