The Antigonish County District RCMP has charged a man in relation to a robbery at a convenience store in St Andrews yesterday morning.
The robbery was reported around 11:30 AM and officers learned that a store employee had confronted a man believed to be stealing items. The suspect fled the scene in a Mazda 3.
Officers located the vehicle in the Taylors Road Area which had crashed. With the assistance of a police dog service team, they tracked the man down and safely arrested him near Highway 104.
As a precaution, an officer was dispatched and remained present at the nearby Ecole Acadienne de Pomquet that was put on hold and secure for a short time.
The 40-year-old man from Pictou County is facing charges ranging from robbery, uttering threats, and theft and is set to make his first court appearance today.
