Healthcare workers in Cape Breton South to be recognized at award gala

A special ceremony to honour local healthcare workers.

Cape Breton South Recruiting for Health is announcing the Community of Care Awards.

Members of the community can nominate who they think are outstanding healthcare professionals in the region.

In a release, the group says the ceremony will recognize the “critical roles healthcare workers play” as well as the “sacrifices they make to serve our communities.”

“All residents are invited to consider the healthcare workers in Cape Breton South who they feel should be acknowledged for extraordinary contributions they have made in our communities.”

Award categories include:

Healthy Communities Leader

Mentor Champion

Life-Long Learner

Dedicated Mental Health/Long-Term/Continuing Care Professional

Healthcare Hero

There is also a volunteer category:

Making a Daily Difference

Making Health your Business Award (recognition for an innovative business or organization in the medical field)

New for 2025:

Nightingale Leadership (recognize excellence in nursing)

Lifetime Legacy Award

Patient’s Choice Award

Winners have been chosen by the selection committee and there will be a celebration gala.

It is in the Bear Head Room at the Port Hawkesbury Civic Centre at 6 p.m., Thursday, April 3.
