A ‘Little House on the Prairie’ reboot is coming to Netflix

A ‘Little House on the Prairie’ reboot is coming to Netflix.

The original aired on NBC between 1974 to 1983.

There’s not a lot of information around it right now. It was announced Rebecca Sonnenshine (credits include writer, producer and production manager for The Vampire Diaries) will be the showrunner and one of the executive producers. Another executive producers of the series is Trip Friendly. His father, Ed Friendly, produced the original series.

Netflix says:

“The new Little House on the Prairie is part family drama, part epic survival tale and part origin story of the American West. The series will offer a kaleidoscopic view of the struggles and triumphs of those who shaped the frontier. Little House on the Prairie has captured the hearts and imaginations of so many fans around the world, and we’re excited to share its enduring themes of hope and optimism with a fresh take on this iconic story.”

There does seem to be an audience for the show, since the book was published in the 1930s, the series have sold more than 73 million copies in more than 100 countries and have been translated into at least 27 languages.

Hard to believe, but it’s been 51 years since the tv show debuted, Nielsen reports that the series racked up 13.25 billion minutes of viewing in 2024 alone!
