Nova Scotia Liberals Calling on Houston Government to Provide Coverage for High Dose Flu Shots

As flu cases go up in the province the Nova Scotia Liberals are calling on the Houston Government to commit to providing coverage for high dose flu shot coverage for seniors over 65. Over 40 percent of hospitalizations for influenza have occurred in the past week and the number is expected to grow.

The National Advisory Committee on Immunization recommends that seniors get the high dose flu shot, and party Leader Zach Churchill says it is especially important to provide this coverage as we face an affordability crisis.

The Liberals tabled legislation that would cover the cost of high dose flu shots for Nova Scotia seniors and as of now only seniors living in long term care can get the shot for free leaving others to pay upwards of 80 dollars out of pocket.
