The 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing are officially underway!
The opening ceremonies were earlier this morning due to the 12 hour time difference. The games continue until February 20.
Considering the time difference, the start time for many events will include “am.”
The women’s long track speed skating event, which will be our first shot at a medal, begins at 5:50am Saturday morning.
Speaking of medals, I never considered how much they are worth to the winners but from what I could find, if a Canadian wins a Gold, they receive $20k, $15k for Silver and $10k for bronze. The money comes from the Canadian Olympic Committee Athlete Excellence Fund.
