21-year-old airlifted after Antigonish altercation

RCMP are investigating after a late-night assault.

Police say at 11:15 p.m. on Saturday, officers responded to an address on Main St. in Antigonish.

Two males got into an altercation after leaving a nightclub.

The 21-year-old victim from Antigonish, was struck in the head and fell to the ground.

The injured male was transported by EHS to hospital and then airlifted to the QEII hospital in Halifax with critical injuries.

RCMP say the 24-year-old male suspect from Hopewell was arrested without incident.

He is facing a charge of aggravated assault and has been released from custody.

The man will appear in Antigonish Provincial Court on May 26th.

Police say the investigation is ongoing.
