Cape Breton Man Arrested for Drug Possession

The RCMP Northeast Traffic Services have arrested a man in Coxhealth for drug offences.

The arrest was made during a traffic stop on Highway 125 on Tuesday evening. It was initiated after the police observed a vehicle travelling more 20 km over the posted speed limit.

The two occupants were arrested, and police found cocaine in the vehicle.

The 21-year-old woman driving the vehicle was released from custody and issued a speeding ticket and the 45-year-old man has been charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.

He was released on an appearance notice and will make his first court appearance in April.

The investigation is ongoing.
