BearHead Energy has filed a class one environmental assessment with the province to approve their two-gigawatt green hydrogen and green ammonia production, storage, and shipment facility in Point Tupper.
The companies Chief Operating Officer Paul Maclean says they have worked with Nova Scotia Environment and Climate Change over the last two years to make sure they are addressing environmental concerns. Adding that the province has been helpful in working to ensure they develop the project in a way that minimizes the impact on the environment.
This project is expected to create 600 jobs during its construction phase, and 75 jobs once the facility is operational in the first phase.
The construction phase is estimated to last 36 months.
The environmental assessment document is expected to be open for public comment until mid-March and a final decision on approval is set be made in mid-April.
