Province’s doctor waitlist grows to over 142,000

Over 142,000 people are now waiting for a family doctor in Nova Scotia.

This is a climb by about 5,000 more from the month before where it was over 137,000.

“Every week, we hear from more Nova Scotians joining the primary care wait list with no hope in sight of being connected with the primary care they need,” said Susan Leblanc, NDP Spokesperson for Health. “These numbers will continue to grow until the Houston government takes meaningful action to connect people with the Family Care Teams they need. It’s disappointing that Houston’s budget didn’t include any clear investment that will make a significant difference in decreasing the number of Nova Scotians on the list.”

There are a few clinics in HRM that have announced they are shutting their doors within the next few months which will add thousands more.
