Pedestrian hit by tractor trailer, suffers non-life-threatening injuries

A man is in hospital in Halifax with non-life-threatening injuries after he was hit by a tractor trailer on the Canso Causeway.

Police say they received a 911 call that a man, 31, was walking on the causeway’s roadway when he was hit just after 5 p.m. Tuesday.

They say paramedics took him to Halifax hospital.

Family confirm to The Hawk News that he is expected to make a full recovery.

RCMP say the cause of the collision remains under investigation.

Traffic between the mainland and Cape Breton was impacted for roughly an hour-and-a-half.
