Each year, 4-H members wrap up their 4-H year at their Club’s Achievement Day. These events celebrate members and all the hard work they have put into their projects throughout the year. Achievement Day is not a competition but rather a milestone that marks the successful completion of each member’s project.
During a typical Achievement Day, members submit their life skills projects for evaluation. 4-H NS staff evaluate each life skills project and provide comments and feedback. For the livestock project, members complete their project requirements by participating in showmanship with their 4-H animal.
There are five components to completing a 4-H project. Every project has a project work component; for livestock projects, this is showmanship; for life skills projects, this is the project articles. Depending on the project, members may be required to complete two or three articles.
In addition to project work, members must complete a Record Sheet for each project. A Record Sheet is a 2-page document that outlines their project work throughout the year, including financial records, feed records and general activities related to their project.
Achievement Days welcome all members, families, leaders, volunteers, alumni, and extended family to come together and celebrate the 4-H members within the club. After Achievement Day, a members 4-H year is complete and they receive a certificate of completion.

After Achievement Day, members have the option to continue with their project at a County Show or Exhibition. This is where members can compete for a spot to attend 4-H NS Provincial Show.

Be sure to check out 4-H booths at County Shows & Exhibitions across the province!
