Local municipalities helping local port

Local municipalities helping local port

The warden of Richmond County says they now have a partnership to help the local port.

Jason MacLean says the partnership is with the Municipality of the District of Guysborough and the Town of Port Hawkesbury.

He says the port has a lot to offer and the agreement will help with marketing the port.

MacLean tells The Hawk the partnership will help the local towns and municipalities work together.

“Everyone contribute some funding in and around that so it is a inter-municipal agreement that many different branches of the local government can really start working towards working together on a number of initiatives and I think that this is just something that really fits that bill.”

MacLean says the partnership will help attract businesses.

He says Richmond County has committed $5000 contingent on federal funding.

The town of Port Hawkesbury has made the same commitment.
