Dave Hanhams has won the byelection in the Municipality of the District of Guysborough.
Hanhams finished with 167 votes in Saturday’s byelection in District 4; Elaine Durling, the runner-up, had 78, Tino Winter received 53, and Jenny MacDonald ended up with 42.
The four candidates were running to replace Blair George, who represented the district for more than 30 years; he was killed in an ATV crash in Halfway Cove in January.
Two days of advance voting took place April 4 and April 9.
