7.7 km of road to be paved in Cheticamp this summer

There will be more upgrades to roads this summer in Cape Breton.

Northern Construction will pave nearly 8 km of road in Cheticamp this summer.

MLA Allan MacMaster says work includes 3 km of the Cheticamp Back Rd, 11 km of the Redman Rd, 1.5 km of the Cemetary Rd and 2.2 km of the Cheticamp Island Rd beginning at Trunk 30 Cabot Trail.

That is a total of 7.7 km.

MacMaster says this work comes after upgrades in Petit Etang and Plateau.

“This work will improve roads in the Belle Marsh area, connecting into the ‘downtown’ of Cheticamp.”

Since the fall of 2021, the province has more than doubled the amount of money spent on local paved roads and nearly tripled the amount of spending on gravel roads.

They have tripled the amount spent on local road maintenance.
