Things are returning to normal at the Halifax Stanfield International Airport after post-tropical storm Fiona ripped through the region.
Many flights were preemptively canceled, Leah Batstone, Spokesperson for the Halifax International Airport Authority said in a telephone interview Monday.
“We had flights returning to the airport [Sunday]. And since then, they’ve been continuing to recover and get people [who have had travel plans canceled by Fiona] moving in and out of the region,” she said.
Long lines are to be expected with flights resuming; Batstone recommended getting to the airport two hours early for a domestic flight, and three hours for international flights.
“Expect to see things a little busier here as the airline’s work hard to get to travelers headed to where they need to go,” Batsone said.
Batsone also recommended checking online for the status of their flight, as some trips were canceled Monday as well.
“It’s not quite as windy as it was during the hurricane, but we are seeing some thunderstorms here today,” Batstone said Monday.
