The Municipality of the County of Richmond appointed two new members to their accessibility advisory committee at last nights council meeting.
Shelley Dorian and Ashley Lavandier will look at the accessibility plan the municipality approved back in the spring, and decide what actions should be taken to meet the goals of the plan. The plan can be read online at: Richmond Accessibility Plan
Council also passed a motion last night to have a flag raising ceremony in honour of Truth and Reconciliation Day. A day that recognizes Indigenous children that never came home from residential schools and survivors. Warden Amanda Mombourquette wants community members to observe the day and she looks forward to establishing a stronger partnership with Potlotek First Nation. The ceremony will be held Thursday morning outside the municipal hall in Arichat.
Mombourquette would like to encourage residents affected by Hurricane Fiona to look into the Province Disaster Financial Assistance program that can provide funding to cover repairs to their homes or properties. Hard copies of the program can be picked up at the municipal office.
