A frightening day for those on Mission Island in Chapel Island.

The Membertou Community posted an alert on social media telling people to leave immediately and that five cottages were on fire.

The community then posted an update that the Potlotek Fire Department had contained the fire’s spread. According to social media, crews from St. Peter’s and DNRR also assisted.

Kitpu Air was enroute to drop water and ensure hot spots were out.
