Attempted murder suspect found fit for trial

A We’koqma’q man charged with attempted murder has been deemed fit to stand trial.

In early September, one man was shot after an argument with two other men escalated to gunfire in Egypt Falls, police said.

The victim was taken to hospital with serious — but not life threatening — injuries.

35-year-old Donald joseph Googoo was later arrested and charged.

Last week, at a hearing to determine if he’s fit to stand trial, Googoo was placed on remand in a hospital for an assessment.

He was found to be not exempt from criminal responsibility; he’ll return to Wagmatcook Provincial Court on Nov. 3 for an election and/or plea hearing.
