A local high school implemented a hold and secure after an alleged threat was made against the school.
Spokesperson for the Strait Area Regional Centre for Education, Deanna Gillis, confirmed the incident at Dr. John H. Gillis Regional High School in Antigonish.
The incident took place on Tuesday; the SRCE issued a statement about it yesterday.
Students were instructed to remain indoors and continue attending classes during the 40-minute hold and secure.
A ‘hold-and-secure’ restricts access in and out of the building in the event of an external safety concern.
There was no report of any weapon actually brought to school, the SRCE said in the statement. The regular school routine resumed following the incident.
RCMP were called as a precaution and a letter from the school went home to families on Tuesday outlining what happened.
