NSSSA Conference for High School Students Set for May at STFX

High school students from across Nova Scotia will converge on STFX for the annual NSSSA conference held May 19 to 22.

This year’s theme is The Sky’s the Limit, which aims to promote big dreams and confidence to do anything students set their mind to.

Guest speakers this year include singer/songwriter Terry Kelly former football player and inspirational speaker Jonathon Hood; entrepreneur and youth keynote speaker Sam Demma, and freelance writer, editor and presenter Rebecca Rose.

“This conference is an opportunity to focus on the future by realizing how much is possible and how much we are able to accomplish together in a safe and welcoming environment while making friends along the way,” says conference co-chair Katie MacLennan, a second year engineering student at STFX from Bras d’Or, Cape Breton.

She is co-chairing the conference with Lauren Carmichael and Taylor Throop-Robinson.

“For this conference we want people to leave with a feeling of hopefulness and that they can push themselves forward ‘to the stars.’ We want everyone to have the confidence to aim high and access their full potential, especially after gaining the skills and tools needed to get through a global pandemic while life continues as normal.” MacLennan added.

Registration is now open to all Nova Scotian high school students at www.nsssa.ca and organizers will be keeping their social media up to date with announcements.
