The last time the Antigonish Junior B Bulldogs played for the Don Johnson Cup was 2006 and the last time they won the championship was 1984.
This year, after a record regular season and the title of Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League champions, the Bulldogs fell just shy of the cup in the semi finals.
They faced off against the Moncton Vitos on Saturday and fell with a score of 5-1.
Although the Bulldogs weren’t able to hoist the cup, Antigonish goalie Cody Maceachern and defensemen Ryan McLellan were named tournament all-stars.
The Kent Koyotes are this year’s champions after they defeated the Vitos 5-4.
