RCMP in Antigonish say a 40 year old man has been charged with smuggling and firearms offences.
This after the Canada Border Services Agency intercepted a package that contained a firearm suppressor in May.
Police investigated, and the man was arrested on June 27th after the package was delivered.
They also searched two homes in Antigonish County and found firearms that were unsafely stored, and loaded, along with ammunition.
Michael Alexander Kane of Paq’tnkek appeared in court last month, and was released on conditions.
He’ll return to court in September.

- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm (4 counts);
- Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Device;
- Possession of a Firearm or Prohibited Device Knowing Its Possession is Unauthorized (5 counts);
- Possession of a Firearm or Prohibited Device Contrary to Prohibition Order (5 counts)
