If you want to have your say on the kind of services and programming you’d like to see at your local library, you will have your chance this week.
Eastern Counties Regional Libraries (ECRL) are hosting community engagement sessions at select branches after securing a $42,000 grant from the Library Development Fund.
Community Engagement Manager, Michelle Greencorn tells us, the sessions will be about getting to know what matters to people.
“Getting a sense of what their priorities are…whether that is increasing hours or increasing collections…that sort of thing.”
She says, a lot has changed in the last five years, in what libraries offer.
“So, is that change going to continue …and how do people see us playing a role in their communities.

Greencorn says she has no expectations on what community members might want.
“I’m coming into this very open minded because we recognize that it has been a pretty [big] market change in terms of how people use libraries. In terms of how they expect their libraries to provide services in what realms…whether it’s online, in person…and just looking at larger factors at play.”
Sessions will run from November 14-16 at the Cyril Ward Library, Petit-de-Gras Library, Whycocomagh Waterfront Centre and Port Hawkesbury Library, with a virtual session, November 21.
