Report on dangerous Antigonish Co. intersection nearing completion

Antigonish Co.’s warden says a report on a dangerous intersection is the area is nearing completion.

Owen McCarron says they’re hopeful Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal officials will have the information for the Beech Hill Rd. – Trunk Four intersection, to council within a couple weeks.

He says they’re not entirely sure what to expect, but changes to the turning lanes could be possible.

McCarron tells The Hawk it’s difficult to put a finger on what makes it a dangerous location.

“It’s challenging to understand why because you look at it- it’s good visibility from all angles,” he says. “The only thing is, there’s a lot of traffic moving.”

McCarron says there could be six cars approaching the area at any one time, but driver inattention could also be a factor.

He says they’ll wait for results of the report before moving forward.
