Gmail rolling out feature for people who never should have been online unsupervised

Ever go to a store and hesitate to give your email when they ask because it’s just kinda embarrassing?

Help is on the way!

Gmail is rolling out a feature that will let you change your email name (the part before @gmail.com) without having to create an entirely new account.

This means hotstuff420@gmail.com, emo_wolf_girl_xoxo@gmail.com or futuremrsrockstar@gmail.com may finally get the dignified retirement they deserve.

The feature has started rolling out in the US and once it’s available here, you’ll be able to change your primary address once every 12 months.

Even better: your old email won’t disappear, messages sent to it will still appear in your inbox.

There’s no exact date yet for when everyone else will get access, but a gradual global rollout is planned.

Personally, I don’t have a cringey email prefix, I’m so old I was able to use my actual name (yay me?), my embarrassment comes from the fact the end is @hotmail.com, whenever I tell a cashier, I feel about 106 years old.
