What you can & can’t use during a fire ban

Our summers are getting hotter and drier each year, which often leads to fire bans and restrictions on campfires. We provide updates on fire restrictions which you can find here.

If you’re planning a camping trip this season, it’s important to be prepared in case campfires are not permitted.

Items you can use during a fire ban:

  • Propane or gas stoves
  • Propane, catalytic, or infrared/radiant heaters
  • Propane or gas lanterns
  • Propane fire pits
via Parks Canada

Items you cannot use:

  • Wood-burning campfires or indoor/outdoor wood stoves
  • Charcoal, briquette, or wood barbecues
  • Turkey fryers
  • Candles
  • Tiki torches
  • Mosquito coils
via Parks Canada

Stay informed, stay prepared and help keep our communities safe this summer.
