Residents across Richmond, Guysborough, Antigonish and Inverness (south of Mabou) counties are being advised that conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms capable of producing heavy rain.
The risk of thunderstorms is expected to begin this evening, lasting overnight and into the afternoon in some areas on Friday.
The storms could make driving difficult, with heavy rainfall potentially causing flash flooding and significant reductions in visibility, so motorists are urged to avoid driving through flooded roadways.
