Nova Scotia Health has relaunched its predicted emergency department wait times tool.
The tool is available through the YourHealthNS app and the Nova Scotia Health website.
It predicts wait time ranges for 14 emergency departments around the province.
Nova Scotia Health says the tool was temporarily taken offline while it transitioned to a new clinical information system.
The health authority says that time was used to review and validate data, as well as refresh the look and user experience of the tool.
The mobile-friendly tool allows users to sort emergency departments by distance, facility, community or wait time.
It can also show predicted waits up to 12 hours into the future.
Nova Scotia Health says the wait times represent the approximate current average time between registration and seeing a doctor or nurse.
The health authority says the estimates are for information only and are based on patients at the lower end of the triage scale, meaning less urgent cases.
Anyone who needs immediate help should call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department, regardless of the estimated wait time.
Nova Scotians can also use YourHealthNS to find non-emergency healthcare services through the Services section, the Nova virtual assistant or the search function.
