The number of Nova Scotians waiting for a family doctor or nurse practitioner has fallen again.
As of September 1, there were 52,771 people on the Need a Family Practice Registry, down 1,811 from the previous month.
The August 1 total was 54,582.
The latest Nova Scotia Health report says the waitlist now represents about 4.8 per cent of the province’s population.
People can be added to the registry for several reasons, including moving to Nova Scotia, losing access to a doctor or nurse practitioner, or seeking primary care for the first time.
Nova Scotia Health is expected to release its next update in early October.
