It is with profound sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of James Andrew Jerome Murphy, lovingly known to so many as Andy, on October 29, 2026, at the age of 29.
Andy was a beloved husband, stepfather, son, brother, uncle, and friend. He leaves behind his loving wife, Kara, and his sweet stepchildren, Raina and Dixon, whom he loved dearly and considered his own. His love for his family was one of the biggest parts of who he was.
He will be forever loved and missed by his parents, Rose and John Murphy; his sister, Julie Murphy (Evan Shaw); and his two favourite little buddies, his “Pumpkin” niece, Scotia-Rose, and his nephew, Johnny, who held such a special place in his heart. He will also be deeply missed by his in-laws, Pauline and Jim Gillis; brother-in-law, Dixon Gillis; and sister-in-law, Justine Pettipas (Andre Pettipas), Jamie Poirier (Joey Arsenault) along with many extended family members and friends. Andy also leaves behind his best childhood friend Shawn Willam’s. Andy was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Yvonne Brow and Jerome Anderson, and his paternal grandparents, Sheila and James Murphy.
Andy had a way of lighting up any room he walked into. His big, unmistakable smile, jolly personality, and goofy mannerisms could bring laughter to those around him.
If there was one thing you could count on, it was that Andy was never too far from the water. No matter the time of day or night, you could often find him with a fly rod in hand, exploring new waters and searching for the next great fishing spot. A talented fly fisherman, he found happiness in the quiet moments by the water and the excitement of discovering somewhere new.
Andy also had a curious mind and a knack for taking things apart, always eager to figure out how something worked. Putting them back together was sometimes another story! He was happiest when he was tinkering, exploring, or finding his next adventure.
Though his time with us was far too short, the love he gave and the memories he leaves behind will live on in the hearts of everyone fortunate enough to have known him.
Gone too soon, but never forgotten. May the waters always be calm, the fishing lines always be tight, and may there always be another fishing spot waiting just around the bend.
“Rest easy, Andy. You will be missed more than words could ever say. We love you!”
