A local judge has been recognized by members of the Canadian Bar Association– Nova Scotia branch.
Laurie Halfpenny-MacQuarrie received the 2018 Distinguished Service Award from association members at their annual professional development conference Dec. 6-7.
The award recognizes outstanding accomplishment in improvement in the law, improvement in the administration of justice, individual lawyer training or advocacy in the public interest.
Halfpenny-MacQuarrie, who has been a provincial court judge since 2003, presides in Port Hawkesbury, Antigonish and Wagmatcook.
