The top two teams in the Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League square off when the Strait Pirates host the East Hants Penguins.
The Pirates (20-2-1), winners of three straight and 15 of their last 16, lead the Sid Rowe Division- and the entire league- with 41 points, eight points ahead of the second-place Miners in the division, and two points up on the Penguins (18-3-3) for top spot overall.
Taylor Lambke, the Pirates’ head coach, tells The Hawk they’re excited for the match-up.
“It’s a game that we looked at on the calendar that we were going to be focusing on- I think they’re a top team in this league, they went to the final (in 2018 and) ended up going to the Don Johnson Cup,” he says. “We’re going to be fired up, it’s going to be a lot of fun- fortunately for us, it’s at home, so we’re really excited about that.”
It’s the second and final regular season game between the teams; East Hants won the first 4-3 at home in October.
Puck drop at the Port Hawkesbury Civic Centre is 7:30 p.m.
