The StFX men’s hockey wraps up a home-and-home series when they host the UPEI Panthers in AUS action.
The X-Men (12-9-3), with one win in their last three, are fourth in the seven-team conference with 27 points, a point behind Moncton for third, and two points ahead of the fifth-place Panthers (11-10-3).
StFX has won two of the first three games in the five-game season series, including a 5-1 win against UPEI in Charlottetown Tuesday night.
Brad Peddle, the head coach of the X-Men, tells The Hawk they’re dealing with some injuries, so they’ll have a short bench.
“We’re going to have to be real smart in terms of our shift length, our lines changes and, obviously, playing as much five-on-five as we can,” he says. “(We can’t be) giving their power play any unnecessary chances, because they’ve got a real strong PP.”
Puck drop at the Keating Centre in Antigonish is 7 p.m.
StFX hosts UNB, the top team in the conference and the country, Saturday night.
