St. Andrews’ Declan Smith, Cape Breton’s captain, missed the game with an upper-body injury; Pleasant Valley’s Jacob Hudson and Antigonish’s Jake Stewart were in the Moncton line-up, while Antigonish’s Sean Stewart was a scratch.

The Screaming Eagles (46-14-3), winners of four of their last five, are tied with Charlottetown for sixth in the 18-team league with 79 points, nine points behind Rimouski for fifth, and two points ahead of the eighth-place Wildcats.

Cape Breton earned a split in the home-and-home series between the Maritimes Division teams, and wins the nine-game season series 5-4.
