The mayor of Port Hawkesbury says a traffic study on Granville St. is underway.
Councillors discussed their concerns, and the concerns of residents and business owners on the street at their November council meeting.
After April’s regular town council meeting Tuesday night, Brenda Chisholm-Beaton, Port Hawkesbury’s mayor, said town officials have started a traffic study.
Chisholm-Beaton said radar is set up on Granville St. to record various traffic patterns.
“That will be moved to different sections along Granville St. so that we can have all the appropriate data with regard to speeding (and) what are the numbers of vehicles travelling on particular sections or segments of Granville St. at particular times,” she said. “It’ll give us a little bit of an indication on what are some potential solutions.”
Chisholm-Beaton said the data, combined with feedback already collected from residents and business owners in the area, will help them determine what changes may need to take place at certain intersections and sightlines.
She said they’ll collect information through the summer and discuss solutions at the end of the summer or early fall, with some changes possibly in place as early as the fall.
