One of two suspects from a First Nations community in Antigonish Co. originally charged with attempted murder has entered three guilty pleas in the case.
Michael Kane, 36, of Paqtnkek also faced counts of aggravated assault, uttering threats and several breaches.
Kane, who has been in custody since his arrest, was denied bail in June 2018.
He pleaded guilty to aggravated assault, uttering threats and a breach Antigonish Provincial Court April 5; he’s scheduled to return to court for sentencing June 19.
Nigel Henderson, 28, of Paqtnkek originally faced charges of attempted murder, aggravated assault and several breaches in the case.
Henderson pleaded guilty to aggravated assault, obstruction and a breach in October; he was sentenced to four years in prison and a five-year weapons ban in November.
RCMP say officers responded to an assault involving three men, who were known to one another, on a roadway in Paqtnkek in June 2018.
They say a 24-year-old Antigonish man was taken to hospital, and was released three days later.
Police say both Kane and Henderson were arrested without incident- Kane in Paqtnkek the same day as the incident, Henderson in Baddeck the next night.
