Six Cape Breton West Islanders projected for upcoming QMJHL draft

Six members of the Cape Breton West Islanders are included in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League’s Central Scouting list for the upcoming entry draft.

Goalie Kenzie MacPhail is ranked to be selected between the sixth and eighth rounds.

Forward Sam Grant is listed between rounds 9-12.

Forwards Daniel Gillis, Dave Matthews and Lewis Taylor and defenseman Neil MacLean are listed after round 12.

Whalen Matthews, a former resident of Port Hawkesbury, is also slotted in round 13 or later; the blueliner played the 2018-19 season with the Cape Breton Tradesmen.

The 2019 QMJHL draft is in Quebec City June 8.
