Officials in the StFX athletics department have named their first football players of the week for the 2019 AUS season.
Chase Bowden, a running back with the X-Men, is the StFX offensive football player of the week after he rushed for 113 total yards on 25 carries in Saturday’s 16-6 season-opening win against Mount Allison in Antigonish; he scored the only touchdown of the game on a three-yard run in the first quarter.
Lineman Alex Fedchun is the defensive player of the week; he recorded five solo tackles, eight assisted tackles, a tackle for a loss and a sack.
Kicker/punter Keiran Burnham had three field goals to earn special teams honours.
