The first effects of Dorian are being felt on the south shore, causing power outages across the region.
The hurricane hasn’t made landfall yet, that will happen Saturday evening.
Senior Meteorologist for the Canadian Hurricane Centre, Doug Mercer, tells The Hawk Hurricane Dorian will pass through the centre of the province.
“The storm track is probably going to come ashore a little bit east of Halifax,” he says. “The impacts for those areas, its going to be more wind on the south side of the storm, you’re going to be getting more of those 150 gusts.”
Mercer says the eastern shore could see storm surges with 12- or 13-meter breaking waves.
