Mayor says she hopes 55+ Games lead to other events

The mayor of Antigonish says the Nova Scotia 55+ Games were fantastic.

The four-day event, which took place in Antigonish July 31-Aug. 3, featured roughly 800 participants.

After September’s regular town council meeting Monday night, Laurie Boucher, the mayor of the town, said they hope it leads to the area hosting other events in the future.

“We have great facilities, the people are second-to-none, and we have a huge volunteer base (of) people just waiting to join in the fun.”

Boucher said the event was a good example of cooperation among town, county and StFX officials.
