A man facing multiple firearms offences following an incident in Inverness Co. is scheduled to return to court in November.
RCMP say officers were called when someone pointed a gun at a woman and her family members while they were in a vehicle in Port Hood at roughly 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
They say the woman, who knew the man, fled in her vehicle, and the man fired the gun four times into the air as she drove away; no one was hurt.
Police say they went the suspect’s home and contained the area; he tried to leave in a vehicle, but he was stopped and arrested without incident.
They say they seized a loaded shotgun from his back seat.
Jean Francois Houle, 48, remains in custody; he was expected for a bail hearing in Port Hawkesbury Provincial Court Friday.
Houle was sent to the East Coast Forensic Hospital for an assessment; he’s scheduled to return to court Nov. 26.
