Local sports preview (Wednesday)

It’s a light night on the local sports schedule.

There’s just one game- it’s in the Nova Scotia Minor Midget AAA Hockey League.

The Cabot Highlanders host the Cape Breton Jets.

The Highlanders (4-5-3), with losses in three straight regular season games and four of their last five, sit fifth in the eight-team league with 11 points, three points behind the Admirals for fourth, and a point ahead of the Thunder and Kings, the two teams tied for sixth; the Jets (1-11-1) are last with three points.

It’s the first of six regular season games between the teams.

Puck drop at the Port Hawkesbury Civic Centre is 7 p.m.

It’s the start of a three-game homestand for the Highlanders, who host the Admirals in a pair of weekend games in Port Hawkesbury.
